Challenge #10 Inspiration with Nora

Hello everyone!!

It is Nora here with an inspiration project for the current challenge board.

For today, I chose the top row across-Chevron, Fade In/Fade Out Effect and Baby.

I started my card by doing a fade in/fade out effect using pink distress inks with a chevron stencil and an ink blending tool.

I then die cut the panel with Avery Elle's "Wonky Stitches" die and layered it using adhesive foam onto a white card base.

I die cut My Favorite Things "Precious Polaroids" out of white card stock and stamped a sentiment from Lawn Fawn's "Little Bundle" stamp set using Simon Says Stamps "Doll Pink" dye ink. I adhered the frame to the card front and set it aside.

I then stamped the hanger and bows, also from the "Little Bundle" set with Hero Arts "Soft Granite" ink. I stamped the welcome sentiment on a white card strip using the "Doll Pink" dye ink and the dress using Hero Arts "Soft Pink" dye ink. Next I used the matching "Little Bundle" dies to cut out all my elements.

My last step was to adhere all the little baby die cuts to the card, with the dress and the sentiment being adhered with foam adhesive to give them a bit of pop. I covered the white dress in clear Wink of Stella, though it does not show up well in this photo.

That is all for me today. I hope this has inspired you to play along with us for this Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #10. There are only a couple more days to play so hop on over to link up your creation.

Have a wonderful day!

Nora

Challenge Guest Designer : Amy Tsuruta

Hello Hello!  It's ~amy~ here and I'm super excited to be guesting for the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #10!  Before I share my project, I'll share a smidge about me.  I've been blogging since 2007 and honestly had no idea that it would become such a fabulous part of my life.  I've met so many wonderful people along the way including Ka.  I work part time at a biotech company in Seattle.  I'm back in school, studying Graphic Design.  I have 2 awesome kids that are in college and I'm engaged to a special guy that encourages my craftiness.

For Challenge #10, I went with the following elements:

Chevron ●  Ombre   ●  Vellum

I used the following 3 Fresh Inks on the MFT Wonky Chevron Stencil:

Celery   ●  Grass   ●  Tuscan Olive

The base is MFT Jelly Bean Green card stock and I used Pretty Pink Posh's Scallop Circle Die.  Don't you love the MFT Forest Friends set?  I couldn't wait to have them peeking through the circle window.  Isn't the sentiment perfect on the vellum strip?

Check out the awesome Fimo Button by Jane's Doodles, it even has a woodgrain texture on it!

Thanks so much to Ka + Mady!

Challenge #10 Inspiration with Lindsey

Happy Sunday!  It's Lindsey back to share another card inspired by Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #10.  This time I chose to work with the bottom row: bow, texture, vellum.

I know embossing may not be everyone's first thought for texture, but it is my absolute favorite texture to feel on a card.  I just love to run my fingers over it, so I decided to use that on my card, which I made for my niece who recently played the leading role in her school play.  I really wanted this card to reflect her, and thought that a fun background was a great way to do that. So although it was not one of my official three elements, I incorporated the resist technique as well.

Okay, now this was the really fun part.  I decided to use a stencil for my embossed image.  I simply applied the versa mark ink directly to the stencil and placed it on top of the card, rubbing over the whole thing.  I knew the design wouldn't transfer perfectly, but that is exactly what I wanted.  I even wiped off a few areas and purposely left stray embossing powders because I loved the somewhat "messy" look it created.  After blending on some distress inks (blueprint sketch, peacock feathers, shaded lilac, wilted violet), I flicked lots of small and large splatters of water on top.

I finished off my card with a vellum star (appropriate for the star of the show, don't you think?) and added the bow element as part of my exclamation point.

I had so much fun making this card.   And I'm sure you'll have fun, too, if you give Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #10 a try.  Can't wait to see how it inspires you!

Champion Guest Designer : Ashwini Rao

Hello! Today we are so happy to have our 6th Champion, Ashwini joining us all the way from India! She is here to share a gorgeous card that was inspired by our current challenge. Take it away, Ashwini!

_________________________________________________________________

Hello! I am Ashwini, over the moon to be here today as a guest designer! I live in Bangalore, India, with my family. I have always loved crafting, but stamping and card making are something I discovered just over 3 years ago, got completely hooked, and started with my blog shortly after. I don't exactly stick to one style - preferring to try my hand at anything and everything possible! Do stop over my blog, it would make me really happy! :)

My card was inspired by the diagonal row from Challenge 10 Badge - Chevron, Ombre and Vellum. I used Altenew Persian Motifs to stamp on some vellum and heat embossed it using Wow! copper embossing powder. I then colored the backside with Copics and fussy cut them, just outside the embossed lines. For the background, I used Heidi Swapp Chevron Stencil and blended in Mustard Seed distress ink to create an ombre effect. I then trimmed this panel and used Paper Trey Ink Stitching Lines to add some fancy edges. After mounting this panel on the card base, I adhered the flowers using Ranger Multi Medium Matte and then added the sentiment from Neat & Tangled Everyday Labels, which I stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.

I hope you enjoyed my card and will be inspired to join the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge! Thank you so much Ka and the design team for having me as your guest! I completely enjoyed it!

Have a great day!

Simple Layered Card

Hello there,
Olesya's here with an inspirational post for #10 challenge board. This time I've chosen the following elements: resist technique - ombre - grid.

Resist technique and ombre I used with a bulb stamp. I stamped it with Jet Black Archival ink and while the image was still wet I heat embossed it with clear super fine detail powder from Ranger. Then sponged the bulb with the following distress inks to get the ombre effect: Wild Honey - Scattered Straw - Squeezed Lemonade. The embossed borders of the image resisted the inks as you can see.

I used Simple Stories Life in Color paper for my layers, by the way, the phrase is of the same paper collection. It was on one of the sheets, so fun imitation of hand printer/ label maker. And the chipboard sticker frame's from Crate Paper.

Drew some accents with a white gel pen: some dots on the bulb and fake stitching lines on the kraft paper layer. The final touch was to add gold and clear sequins.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Hope this card was inspirational enough :) Have an amazing day!
Olesya Kharkova.
